Praise a Fruit of the Redeemed
In our times
there is a diversity and abundance of music in Christian congregations, which
has become a phenomenon worth studying, analyzing, evaluating and defining.
In this
century, like no other, the movement of Christian music has spread and formed
part of the distinction and image of many congregations.
It should be
noted that this book does not intend to reject, discriminate, criticize, or
judge any person who has been inspired to sing to God.
Nor will we
inquire into the commercial and economic intentions and motives of the record
industry, and how the product is prostituted to have financial achievements
above the Christian principles and values of the singer-songwriters.
We will not
enter into the debate of judging the origin of the different music rhythms, if
music with rhythms of pagan origin is considered to praise God or not, that
debate should take place, but not in this text.
We will not
analyze Christian music in general, nor any of its expressions that testify to
love and joy towards God, any expression of intimate, individual personal experiences
in the Christian walk and we will not do so in this book, why we want to focus
on praise that we sing to God within the congregations. Studying Christian
music in general will be the reason for other analyses, for the moment I just
make it clear that Christian music has its place, its importance, its purpose
and is worthy of existence, it will always be better to consume quality
Christian music than to consume garbage music of the world
Nor will we
talk about “White” music, defined as that music with the purpose of being used
in congregations. Music whose main characteristic is to talk about beautiful
things; He talks about love, he talks about joy, he talks about freedom, he
talks about things and emotions that identify us as God's children. Anyone can
sing them without committing to anything or anyone, white music does not speak
of Christ, and his attributes, His character, or who we are in it, in a few
words it is "white" music that fits anywhere and in any moment.
We will not
talk about the ministry of praise, its leadership, its norms, its internal
regulations, all this is necessary to review, analyze, define, however, they
are a matter of each denomination, organization or local church, the diversity
of styles and forms make it difficult to generalize our observations in this
regard.
Finally, we
will not talk about songs whose lyrics declare heresy, which are loaded with
doctrinal errors, music by authors who abandoned the faith to teach doctrines
of demons and we will not talk about them, because by definition it is not
Praise to God, on the contrary. , are a blasphemy that displeases God.
In this
introduction we have already mentioned what we will not talk about, it only
remains to define what issues we will address in this book:
What is Praise
to God? Who should praise God? Why should you? How should you do it? When
should you do it? Where should you do it? What is the purpose of praising God?
Biblical principles in the composition of the praise and Indicators to evaluate
the quality in the lyrics of the songs.
Psalm 66.8
Bless the Lord and make the voice of his praise heard.
